Since Desktop Tower Defense and Onslaught a lot of new good and bad tower defense games have hit the stage. Some of them have nice graphics and sounds, some have new new defense ideas, but some of them are just boring or flash crap. So I want to present you the most promising new tower defense games for all your secret defense desires :)
PS: The list is not in a specific order, all of this games are worth being tested. I think you can find some new favorites among these.

You have 9 tower slots, you can build single-damage, multi-damage, slower, stopper, life reaper and gold bonus towers. You can upgrade the damage, range and the special abilities of the towers. Your base is in the center, the creeps come, as the name says, spirally or in a direct line. You earn different special bonuses like damage, range or money boost. The different tower types allow a wide variety of strategies, slowing/stopping or max-damage style, flavored with some money-bonus towers and a little bit of life nuking… Made in Java. Definitely worth a try.
Hex Tower Defence - 5/5 Stars

This is a open source Java Tower Defense game. It has some of the standard towers like single-damage, multi-damage, slower and some special bonus towers, and you can choose the target mode for each tower. You can save the raising interest rate for getting more bonus money, or spend it for some special feature towers. As I have seen you can only reach the high levels by saving the interest rate up to 40%+, I think you can imagine how big the gold number can get using such a multiplier :) The best thing in Hex Defense is, you have a “Fast Mode” button for speeding up the game, so no more waiting for slow creeps :) Also made in Java.
Canyon Defense - 4/5 Stars

Nice graphics and sound, the creeps drive through a long canyon, you have to stop them :) The game has different maps and difficulties. You can build some nice towers for defending the ground and air creeps, or build buildings for getting special abilities. For unlocking new tower types you have to finish some mini quests (ex. “Destroy 5 flying enemies”). Really one of the new top tower defense games!

Good graphics and sound, you can build gun, grenade, slow or laser towers or plant some mines. Doing some research you can unlock better towers and upgrade levels. Worth a try!
Stalingrad 1 - 4.5/5 Stars

Defend your base in stalingrad. This one has nice classical music and sound effects. You can build turrets, bunker, Flak, cannons or artillery and upgrade all of them. Defeating the various levels you can unlock new szenarios.
Stalingrad 2 - 4.5/5 Stars

Really nice upgrade to Stalingrad 1, lot of scenarios, you can build now factories which research new towers or tanks or which “build” some extra money. In addition to the ground or air towers you can now send tanks which start from your base and go against the creeps to “crash” them. Again some nice classical music. Really cool!
Vector TD 2 - 5/5 Stars

New version of the good old Vector TD. This one has again a simple clean vector graphic with single, multi, slower, rocket towers and others. Killing the small bosses give bonus point which you can spend for damage or range towers or for higher interest rate. You can choose “close”, “hard” or “weak” as target mode. Who likes the first version will like this too!

Simple graphic, but lot of tower options like Railgun, Fission Lase, Radar Beam… When upgrading you can choose from power, range or speed.

Give Metalix a try. For some reason it seems like know one knows about it. It is extremely challenging, I have yet to beat it and have no problem beating other tower defense games. This one is definetly for those who are looking for a challenge. Graphically it is the best bar none. Nice 3D models. Also the upgrade system is pretty deep, with each tower having the choice of (power, range, quantity, movement). Each one has multiple upgrades. Give it a try. You will probally have trouble getting past level 10 your first time. Just remember your going to have to move your tower. I have gotten to level 27 and I have done some research and haven’t found anyone who beat the game. Some have gotten to level 41. Here is the link:

Really the only negative I have to say about the game is that there is no save option. I wish I didn’t have to start from level 1 every time I lost. Before this Tower Defense game my previous favorite one was Canyon Defense. Anyways here is my recomendation.
